What You Should Know About the Hormonal IUD Catalytic Opportunity Fund

Access Group

Updated: Jan 14

What is the Hormonal IUD Catalytic Opportunity Fund?

The Catalytic Opportunity Fund (COF) is a rapid funding mechanism to support hormonal IUD product pre-introduction, introduction, and scale-up activities across low- and lower-middle income countries. The COF is administered by the Clinton Health Access Initiative, with multi-donor support.

What activities does the COF support?

COF funding can be used for both catalytic pre-introduction activities (such as the development of a costed introduction plan) and introduction activities (such as provider trainings or demand generation). It cannot support pilot research. See full scope here

Who is eligible to apply?

Funds can only be granted to Non-Governmental Organizations. However, applications must include evidence of government endorsement, and government agencies can and are encouraged to be involved in implementation of funded activities.

How much funding is available and for what duration?

Funding is capped at 250K USD per grant, with a maximum project duration of 12 months.

When are applications reviewed?

Applications are reviewed on a semi-rolling basis. Interested applicants should submit required materials to cof@clintonhealthaccess.org by the deadlines listed on the COF Portal.

The COF has put together a resource deck and held an informational webinar with recommendations to help you prepare for a successful project approach and proposal submission to the COF. Please check out the slides below and view the recording from the webinar.
